Comin’ From Where I’m From
Where I’m from
Hearing sirens outside my window
Is like hearing birds chirp in the wilderness
Cops on the corner
Just chillin’ on the block
Like the street pharmacists they’re trying to catch
Where I’m from
There’s a corner store on every corner
Chinese restaurant on every block
Boys walking around
With their pants hanging off their ass
Girls wearing clothes that are 2 sizes too small
Having babies too soon

Fendi that
Rocking the newest Jordans every week
Yet living in the projects and can’t pay their rent

Only to come back around nine years later

Before my sister even graduated high school

Ambitious Man Part 1
May be the big man on campus
That lays low
But achievement is at the forefront of his mind
Always on his grind
A man statistics will never define
The Martin or Malcolm of his time
By any means necessary he will gain peace of mind
By achieving his goals
Never breaking the promises he's made to himself
Born in the hood
But his circumstance didn't dictate his destiny
With a lack of wealth
Getting caught up is easy
But when presented with two roads
He took the one less traveled
Determined to make a difference
Not Obama
But he was a change we could believe in
A change we could see
A man of integrity
A made man who knows he is his brother's keeper
Whether he's wearing the black and old gold of A Phi A
The crimson and cream of the oh so pretty Kappa Alpha Psi
Or he's an atomic dog of Omega Psi Phi
He's a man of conviction
The man with no letters on his chest
Who can get pretty nasty
But still handle his business
Brain so good
He got his PhD
The come up is what he eats, sleeps, and breathes
He's no stranger to hard work
In everything he does his goal is to succeed

But even in defeat
There is a lesson to be learned
Nothing in his world is free
He can discuss world politics and the economy
And still spit bars like weezy

Because in his mind he knows no limits
